“(…) But the magic happens in between. A major highlight was the time I spent with our Italian fans in Milan. The majority of the people there were from Evanescenceville (evanescencewebsite.com), which for those of you who don’t know, is one of our most dedicated and supportive fan-run clubs in the world. Once they pooled their money and bought Terry a guitar and me a corset (not cheap items! We rocked both on stage that night), and when we played in Italy during the Open Door era, they had bought a star and named it “Evanescence” in honor of the song “Your Star!” We arranged to have a meet and greet and listening session of a handful of tracks from the new album. I love doing this, I love seeing the reactions of people hearing music for the first time and hearing which songs they liked the best. Anyway, I started by coming in and giving a little introduction, I had nothing prepared and just started talking about how much the Italian fans mean to me, and I totally choked up. Federico (the leader of the club and one of my favorite fans EVER) caught me in a big hug and I’ll never forget the moment. Somebody took an awesome picture and sent it to me, I’ll be posting it here soon (…) love, Amy”

(…) I want to give a special thanks to our italian fans. I think a lot of you have heard about this by now, but they showed up at our show in Piza with a custom guitar they all chipped in on and had made for Terry with his name on it, and they bought us an actual STAR. There is now a star in the sky called Evanescence- RAD! Besides that there were tons presents, including my favorite thing, a giant book full of fan letters, pictures of our times together and art. Then they proceeded to totally freak out all night and give us an incredible show, which we honestly thought might suck considering we were playing in some weird little dusty lot next to a warehouse in the middle of nowhere. So once again, you guys RULED. Thank you so much- you will always be very special to us. (…)

Dear Evanescence Website….
SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG! I’ve been getting my apartment sorted and doing stupid stuff ever since I’ve been home from tour, and I feel so bad to have kept you waiting.
Anyway, finally here are all answers to the interview! I hope you’re doing well- we miss our Italian fans!
love, Amy

Hey.
Sorry it took me so long to send you this, but I want to say thank you and give a great big hug to all the italian fans who made letters, poems, songs- and especially the birthday song from everyone! It really made me feel special. I was going to post on the website but I realized that there would be no way to prove it was me, and just confuse everyone. :) So could you please send my message and love to everybody?
I had a great birthday and am really enjoying my time off. My birthday present from Josh was a beautiful harp and lessons which I am taking each week! It is so much fun to play (but Im going to have to work really hard to get good at it) ;) Thats really all I’ve been doing this month so far and I’m proud to say that I already have a huge blister on my finger. I miss you guys!
See ya.

Official Italian Tribute Band Contest (2008)
OK! I think I’ve done it.
It was REALLY hard to pick a winner out of the finalists in the Italian Ev tribute band contest. I have to admit, I’ve never done anything like this. To chose someone who does the best impression of you- well- its really weird! Hahaha. I am so honored that so many people got together and learned our music down to the tiniest details to put together live performances AND demos! It was awesome and fun to watch. I had a really hard time choosing only one though, because they were all good in different ways. Setanera had the best costumes (love the red riding hood cape), I love Even in Death’s stage setup, with the candles and Ev videos playing- very cool! My two favorites were Cloud Nine and Pumpkin. I really love Cloud Nine’s video because it just looks like you guys are having fun- and the singer is great! Pumpkin had the best live show- the band sounds great, the lights are cool, the singer has very good stage presence (thrashing her hair around all over the place- who taught you to do that?? :) ), and last but not least, Pumpkin is my favorite of all the names! So the winner is….. PUMPKIN!
